Specialist therapy to help you process traumatic memories
You don’t have to process your trauma alone

Life was going along smoothly and then one day, out of the blue, your life has been turned upside down. This may be a recent event such as a marriage breakdown, a road traffic accident, incident of abuse, or bullying at work. Or it may be an historical event that you thought you had dealt with but has been triggered by some recent event. You’ve noticed that this is having a negative impact on your emotional, psychological, physical, and social functioning. You feel anxious and depressed, and you don’t know what to do.
You have noticed that you are not as tolerant. You are more irritable and snappier than you used to be. Maybe you have begun to act out of character with a sense of recklessness and have an attitude of not caring what happens! You have become very sensitive to certain triggers; watching a TV programme/listening to a certain song/a certain smell, a physical reminder all brings back memories of your experience. You find yourself in a spiral of negative thinking from which you cannot escape. Maybe you have even begun to think in some way that what has happened ‘was your fault’? Maybe you may feel like ‘lashing out’ at others. Afterall you’ve been hurt, why shouldn’t others feel the same!! You want justice, and recognition, for what has happened to you. You may have even thought about speaking to someone, but you don’t want to burden them, and they won’t understand anyway.

I know you don’t want to feel this way. You want to let go of the past and look to the future. You want to find the ‘old you’, the one that knew where life was heading and had security in that knowledge. But I also know change is not easy. I understand the difficulties you are facing, how hard it is to talk about and how hard it is to acknowledge ‘it’ has happened to you.
I want to assure you that therapy will enable you to make sense of your experiences, give you understanding, and ‘closure’. You will learn new ways of coping with your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. You will learn to let go of negative thinking. You will learn to live the life you deserve, thrive not just survive and grow from your experiences! To help you in this process I will draw upon my clinical training and experience and use the most appropriate intervention. This may be trauma-focused cognitive behaviour therapy (TF-CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR).
